Robert Marawa is a South African sports journalist and television and radio personality.

Robert Marawa was born in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal province of the Republic of South Africa.

He has two sisters; Vanessa Marawa who achieved fame after participating and eventually winning Survivor South Africa: Panama and Gugu Marawa who was the deputy manager of the South African Senior Men’s National Team (Bafana Bafana) and later general manager of the Durban based Lamontville Golden Arrows football club.

Robert Marawa went to Hilton College in Hilton outside Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal.

He later attended the University of the Witwatersrand in 1992 where he studied a Law Degree.

In 1996 when the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) overhauled and relaunched it’s three channels (SABC 1, 2 and 3), Robert Marawa auditioned and was hired as a continuity presenter for SABC 1.

In late 1997 he switched from continuity presenting to sports broadcasting, Robert Marawa joined Topsport ahead of the 1998 Fifa World Cup in France which would be the first for Bafana Bafana.

On Topsport Robert Marawa presented Laduma, a football show that continues to endure post Marawa era.

In his early days he saw through the 1998 Fifa World Cup, sharing the entire tournament with one other sports anchor.

Over the next years Robert Marawa would host host Soccerzone, a football highlights show which continues to air on SABC 1 on Mondays; Discovery Sports Centre which aired from 18:00 to 19:00 weekdays on SABC Radio’s Metro FM; hosted SABC 2’s boxing show Blow by Blow; traveled to Germany for the 2006 Fifa World Cup; hosted various other sports for the SABC.

Robert Marawa currently hosts 083 Sports@6 with Robert Marawa weekdays 18:00 - 19:30.
