Having grown up living in a multicultural and spiritual household; Silk Damoyi's upbringing was textured by various influences; from music, theatre, religious and traditional beliefs. Living a big part of his life in one of East London's more popular townships Duncan Village (eZiphunzane C section) the noise from the different styles of music and local groups groomed a big lover of sounds. With radio being the central theme he was bound to fall into the frequency modulation. Fast forward, the curious, enthusiastic and creative young lad picks up a (community) station as he plays through his radio and falls in love. The journey of the "radio presenter" was restored.

In 2009 the ground work started with the behind the scenes activity to build up to the first of many broadcasts in 2011 in a station based in Mdantsane his hometown. That educational and experience filled stint saw him leave the station for a job in fields further away from media. With a learning heart and an eager spirit Silk Damoyi (born Siphamandla S. Damoyi) took all the chances he could acquire to learn and grow. From creative his writing, leading in structures of Non-profit organisations with a focus and intense love for children's rights advocacy, freedom of expressions and human rights, he flew further away from his first love. With an opening for a radio drama he auditioned and landed a prominent character in the series.

For 5 years he built, refined and mastered his acting, writing and voice over career with the help of the cast and the producer. Half-way through his time on "Uhambo Lwethu". Silk Damoyi joined a new baby that had been launched in the city of East London as an on-air personality & Producer, here widening his scope in the field. Online radio built a stronger skill of content production and curating with the constant reminder that "content is king". Rising to Snr personal and leading the Media academy wing of the company.

He was allowed room to Experiment, learn and grow. With a Marketing & Business management background this eager beaver grew to a semi journalistic investigator, social media manager, self-taught PR specialist, voice artist, prolific public speaker and mc. With an eye for development and the education of the black child, His dreams and hunger lead him to heights unimaginable. The call to join the SABC (again) as a producer and on-air personality came in 2022 & that has seen him flourish in talk radio and more...
