Lorenzo Darries hails from the Mother City ,Cape Flats. He grew up in areas such as Lavender Hill, Mitchells Plain and Retreat where he played rugby in school and represented the Retreat Rugby Club.

He played one professional cricket game for his school before retiring. He spent years working in the finance sector before returning to CPUT to complete an Accounting programme in 2019 where he found his way to campus radio. He entered the Good Hope FM Campus DJ Search, where he unfortunately did not make it to the final stages, but a year later Good Hope FM came calling. 

He claims to be one of the biggest Stormers and Springbok supporters. You will find him at the stadium or his local rugby field watching the club boys get it on. When not tuning you on the airwaves you will find Lorenzo enjoying a good braai with friends and family or playing board games on quiet afternoon .

  • What do you love most about radio?

The thrill of being live and connecting with people all over cape town and South Africa. I love being able to connect to all ethnicities. I love that I am able to bring sports to people , to share what I love and to engage with an audience about sport

  • How long have you been on radio?

I’ve been in Radio for almost 3 years now .

  • What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love spending time with family and friends. Most times it involves board games and other times watching the sport while braaing. Most importantly I like and love enjoying the moment of life.

  • What knowledge do you love imparting onto your listeners?

The knowledge of sport and that of the superstars I get to interview every week.

  • What daily motivation do you believe contributes to your success over the airwaves daily?

Being able to do what I love and making my Parents proud of me .

  • What has been your favourite moment on Radio?

I have 3 highlights.
1. My 1st day on air, working from home.
2. The day I got to broadcast from Studio.
3. Interviewing former Springbok Coach, Peter De Villiers
