Sandra Rosenberg has become a household name in the mother city due to her infectious laugh and her long-standing love affair with radio. She cut her teeth in the industry on community radio before graduating from Peninsula Technikon with a BTech Degree in Journalism. After working as a journalist at the SABC, Sandra joined the Good Hope FM family. “Radio is my first love. It has allowed me to connect with so many people from diverse walks of life. I love the medium's immediacy and being a part of our listener's day every day, I’m on air.”
- What do you love most about radio?
I love the intimacy of it. Being on the radio, people invite you into their lives, their homes, their space and by default, you become part of a broader family.
- How long have you been on the radio?
I started my career in community radio and have been on the airwaves in various capacities ever since.
- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love creating artwork using recycled books and driftwood, rope wall hangings, Pyrography, Woodwork, making furniture and a spot of Viticulture. When not on-air, I enjoy being a visitor in my city and often travel on the road less travelled to discover the many gifts the Western Cape has to offer. I’m also on a mission to travel through Africa for the “road trip of a lifetime” Dogs are my second love, and I adore time spent outdoors, hiking with my furry four-legged friends.
- What knowledge do you love imparting to your listeners?
Bite-size chunks of information that will make life easier, like lifehacks and important information affecting their lives like petrol price hikes, commentary on legislation and of course entertainment news.
- What daily motivation do you believe contributes to your success over the airwaves daily?
Be authentic.
- What has been your favourite moment on Radio?
There have been so many. I have loved meeting some of my favourite artists, and being a hip hop lover, getting to meet and interview the Public Enemy crew was just phenomenal. But also, “Keep Cape Town Warm” has been a really heartwarming experience, seeing Capetonians come out in their droves to support the less fortunate through the brutal Cape Town winters
