On Air Personality
Dr Jules

Dr Jules has been active in the DJ industry for over two decades.
He is now expanding somewhat into production, remixing and is committed to growing his radio show "Dr's In The House" which airs weekends on Good Hope FM. A graduate of UWC and UCT, this DJ has played at many different clubs in and around Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth with several offers to go play in Johannesburg and abroad. Jules has held residencies at Club Galaxy, Dockside and Club Snap. He has shared the stage with great artists like Mi Casa, DJ Kent, FEU, Black Coffee, Goldfish and has even opened for Pitbull as well as Ja Rule. One of his personal highlights was being the hype DJ for rap artist Coolio during his Cape Town performance. Dr Jules currently freelance after the show and has gigs almost every weekend. He rarely has time to "take it easy" which is just the way he likes it. He plays everything from Hip Hop to House with many variations in-between. Jules' forte’ lies in entertaining and educating a crowd with current, new and re-invented trends in music. He specialises in popular “turntablist” techniques like scratching, beat mixing and live mashups. He loves to hype a crowd into a euphoric state where the music becomes a medium for one memorable party.
- What do you love most about radio?
The interaction with listeners and the goosebumps kinda feeling of engaging with thousands of people via this incredible media. I especially love the Outside Broadcasts where my team and I get to engage with our listeners in person and give them an unforgettable, good time. The appreciation of our loyal listeners by showing up at our DJ gigs or live events is truly amazing and just reward for the amount of time we put into curating / producing the show’s content.
- How long have you been on radio?
Dr’s In The House is currently going into its 8th year but I’ve been blessed to enjoy a longstanding relationship with Good Hope FM as an entertainer for the last 15 years at least.
- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with my family. Social media engagement. Looking for new music or mixing tunes from my personal vinyl collection.
- What knowledge do you love imparting onto your listeners?
Sometimes, you need to break away from your problems behind and let the music change your mood. That’s where we come in. I also love to educate and entertain our listeners with new, old and reinvented trends in music worldwide.
- What daily motivation do you believe contributes to your success over the airwaves daily?
I acknowledge and appreciate all blessings. I take each day as it comes but also plan strategically. I genuinely love being on air and a part of the GHFM team.
- What has been your favourite moment on Radio?
It would have to be the Outside Broadcasts including: The Kyknet Mitchells Plain Festivals and Dr’s In The House Club Tour which we’ve done on several occasions. Thousands of people vibing with me and my DJs while just getting lost in the music. What’s not to love? Lol. I pride myself on building longstanding relationships with brands like Distell (for example) who have sponsored Dr’s In The House Live Broadcasts many times. I try to give the clients exactly what they pay for while proudly representing Good Hope FM to the best of my ability. This in turn brings revenue into the station and allows me to take the show on the road. Mutually beneficial.
