On Air Personality
Leigh-Anne Williams

With a captivating smile and a more than confident demeanour, Leigh-Anne has consistently carved out her own path in the television and radio industry.
A little-known fact is that Leigh-Anne was holding down a regular-9-to-5 job in recruitment and dabbling in acting lessons in her spare time before she became one of the most recognised faces on South African television. It was when she made the decision to get an agent that her destiny began to unfold. One thing led to another and the budding actress was cast in a local television series, and eight months later she was approached by the Expresso Show production team to be a guest presenter on the show for a week. It goes without saying that she nailed that performance and has been part of the morning breakfast show’s family for over eight years.
Never turning down an opportunity to show the country what she’s made of - Leigh-Anne juggled her already busy schedule on the Expresso Show and at Good Hope FM to participate in the eighth season of Strictly Come Dancing in 2016. She did nothing short of prove that she can excel at anything she puts her mind to and snatched the title of runner up in what was an extremely contested and hotly debated finale.
With her eye firmly on an illustrious career in entertainment and broadcast, Leigh-Anne is currently putting a lot more impetus on her health and fitness. “The entertainment industry is constantly on the go, which keeps me on my toes, but I also need to make sure that I can keep up with what my career choices throw at me,” says Leigh-Anne. “Ensuring I’m in peak physical condition is paramount to achieving longevity in this fast-paced world I live in.”
Living a life that is very much in the spotlight, Leigh-Anne maintains that it’s her strong family bonds that keep her grounded and motivated. “My family means the world to me; especially my mom. We’ve been through so much together and she always manages to keep my spirits up no matter what.” Leigh-Anne also attributes her unfailing love and passion for what she does as what also keeps her motivated to always give of her best.
It goes without saying that it’s Williams’ zest for life that resonates most with television and radio audiences across the country, and which motivates her to pursue her dream of one day hosting her own television talk show.
Leigh-Anne lives by a quote by evangelist and author, Leonard Ravenhill: “Opportunities of a lifetime must be seized in the lifetime of the opportunity.”
- What do you love most about radio?
I love how current it is. I love that you can be the point of contact for the most current events happening in the world at the very moment its happening. When things happen in the world, people go to the voices they trust the most on radio. That's why I love the power of radio to be a platform that informs, entertains and inspires.
- How long have you been on radio?
15 years
- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I don't have a lot of spare time, but should that rate occasion be a possibility, I usually catch up with friends or series.
- What knowledge do you love imparting onto your listeners?
I love making my listeners feel like I am speaking just to them. I love when I get feedback like "you're a breath of fresh air". That to me says that we have imparted to them some positively and great energy. I want people to feel uplifted after listening to the Morning Show.
- What daily motivation do you believe contributes to your success over the airwaves daily?
I just try to be my most authentic self everyday. I love engaging with the audience in a way that gives them insight in who I am and who the team is. And it's wonderful to hear from them remembering stories we told or even pucking up little nuances and character traits of each team member. I want it to feel like family.
- What has been your favourite moment on Radio?
There are many brands I have loved working with for different reasons:
We did campaign with Engen for Women's Month in 2020. It was a great series featuring incredible speakers who lead the audience with powerful insights into finances, how to find greatness in the midst of difficult situations, mental health, finances, relationships and GBV.
We did a campaign with Lil Lets that helped us open the conversation around periods, which is still very much a taboo topic for many people.
It was so enlightening to see the engagement from the audience and how enthusiastic when men were to learn more and be a support to the women in their lives.
This year we also did a campaign with Standard Bank which aimed to encourage the youth of Mzansi to save 10% of a million rand. It was great to hear the testimonies of young people who are doing the most to create a better life for themselves and even more so, how excited they were to receive a 5 or 10K boost from Standard Bank.
