The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) 19 radio services are now available on satellite audio package from today (04th of June 2015). Previously METRO FM was the only public service broadcaster’s radio station on this platform.
Mr Leslie Ntloko, SABC Group Executive: Radio stated: “SABC Radio has over the years claimed its rightful space by dominating the airwaves and it is now the right time to further expand on our offering, by using alternative platforms. This partnership will ensure that our various radio stations’ spectrum is not confined to certain areas. Through the DStv bouquet our radio stations will have a wider national footprint.”
SABC Radio prides itself on catering for a diverse audience, offering its programming in the respective 11 official languages and covers a vast array of styles and tastes - from hip urban music to compelling talk shows, traditional music and cultural shows.
The country’s biggest and most popular radio stations such as Ukhozi FM, Metro FM, Lesedi FM, Motsweding FM and Thobela FM will now be accessible to DStv Premium, Extra, Compact, Family, Access and EasyView customers, as well as customers on the Indian and Portuguese packages.
