Who are you?

I am Luks Gidane a father of 3 beautiful boys. I was born in Zwide, Port Elizabeth Eastern Cape now based in Johannesburg ,Roodepoort West of Johannesburg. From a very young age ,I was passionate about radio and listened to different radio stations throughout the day. I recognise at a young age the power of radio in shaping society. I also loved music and dreamt of being on radio one day.

What show do you host?

I work at the SABC Mhlobo Wenene FM as a co-host of the mid-day show, weekdays between 13h00-15h00. When people listen to the show I want them to be Inspired to improve their current situation.

When and how did your career start?

It started in 1997 at Ubuntu Communiuty Radio as radio presenter, music compiler at a community radio station.

I admire different people for different aspects, but these following Legends they contributed a lot to be the person that Iam,Vido Makaza, Zolani ‘ZB” Bongco and the late Lifa Msimang.

What have you achieved thus far within your career? What are your career highlights?

Getting to interview sports personalities, the likes of Gen Bantu Holomisa during the FIFA World Cup draw in Cape Town, Angelique Kidjo and many more. Securing UWFM’s afternoon drive slot. I was also fortunate to be one of the few young Africans to be given a chance and do a course on Essentials of Broadcasting Management in 2011 at Rhodes University which was funded by MTN.

Besides radio, what do you do?

I am a voice over artist, Dj and also an MC. Recently I met good people in the industry that roped me in to do events, so I’ve started to organise events.I am a humble, motivated and a hard working.
