IsiXhosa the Official Language of the Marvel Superhero Film Black Panther
In “Black Panther” which officially released in South Africa on the 16th of February, the filmmakers have used IsiXhosa as the official language of “Wakanda”; the fantastical technologically advanced African Kingdom. The story defies all stereotypes and features black superheroes. Dr John Kani, a well known actor from South Africa was the one who advocated the use of his language, IsiXhosa. The use of IsiXhosa reinforces the importance of our culture and having pride in your language. Since the release of the film, it has became popular in South Africa especially on social networks and the media.
