Umhlobo Wenene FM welcomes a seasoned broadcaster to its team, Mr Siphiwo Magoda

In December 2016, Umhlobo Wenene FM bid farewell to one of its well respected talk show host Mr Luzuko Koti after a solid 5 years with the station. This year the station is proud to announce the appointment of another seasoned and well respected broadcaster Mr Siphiwo Magoda. Mr Magoda is not new to the SABC as he has 20 years of experience within the SABC.

Mr Magoda started his career in 1982 when he joined radio Transkei as an operations controller, reporter and news reader, senior reporter, news and current affairs presenter. Mr Magoda has been trained and has also had international exposure; he was afforded an opportunity to train as a journalist at the British Broadcasting Corporation in London. He also had an opportunity to be trained in change management at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto.This seasoned broadcaster also worked as an intern at the CBC’s St Johns Radio and Television in New Foundland in Cananda. Back at home Mr Magoda worked as a News Reporter for Good Morning South Africa. Ahead of the historical elections in 1994, Mr Magoda played a pivotal role as he was tasked with interviewing all major South African Political Party Leaders.

Umhlobo Wenene FM welcomes Mr Magoda as a host of Umxholo which is a midnight talk show. For a midnight talk show Umxholo enjoys a fair share of audiences ,sitting at 472 000 listeners ,the show is on air daily from Monday to Friday  between 24h00 – 03h00.His first show  will be on Wednesday the 01st February 2017.

The station Manager would like to welcome Mr Magoda to the team and wishes him all the best. Mr Mnci says, “I have no doubt that Mr Magoda will take the show to greater heights due to his experience as a journalist and a tried and tested broadcaster.”
