[Gqeberha, 16 October 2023] -Kuluvuyo olukhulu ukwazisa ukuba Umhlobo Wenene FM ubuya nokhuphiswano lwebali olusihloko sithi Safa Ziziyobisi.

Olu khuphiswano lukhangela lukwabhiyozela abavelisi bamabali abanesakhono nobuchule, ababhali kwakunye nabadlali ngelixa luqubisana nomngeni woxhatshazo lweziyobisi kwiindawo esihlala kuzo. Kwezi veki zimbalwa zizayo, Umhlobo Wenene FM uza kube ukhangela le talente ilandelayo:

• 1 Ababhali bamabali: Thumela ikhasi elinye (1-page ) lokwenzeka kwibali lakho (synopsis) kwakunye neendima ezimbini zebali lakho (2 scenes).
• 1 Umvelisi webali: Thumela ibali lakho eliyimizuzu elishumi.
• 1 Umdlali webali: Thumela ivideo eyimizuzwana engama60 ulinganisa ebalini.

 Umxholo wokungenela kukhuphiswano uthi “uxhatshazo lweziyobisi ekuhlaleni."

 UmhloboWenene FM ukhuthaza bonke abavelisi abanomdla, ababhali kwakunye nabadlali ukuba bathathe inxaxheba kolu khuphiswano lunikisa umdla ongaka, kananjalo babenegalelo ekufundiseni ngengxaki exakileyo yoxhatshazo lweziyobisi ngendlela eyonwabisayo, enika ulwazi nefundisayo. Amangenelo mawabe matsha kwaye angabi kanti athathwe kwenye indawo okanye abe kanti akhe apapashwa ngaphambili. Ibali malibhalwe kwaye lilinganiswe ngolwimi lwesiXhosa , luveza ukunambitheka nokutyeba kweelwimi zoMzantsi Afrika.

Abaphumeleleyo bakufumana ithuba lokuzixhamlela kwisixamali esiyiR60 000 nekontraka yokuba kwicandelo lamabali oMhlobo Wenene FM kunyakamali ka2024/25. Umphulaphuli othe wathumela iivoti ezininzi kolu khuphiswano uyakuzuza ithuba lokuphumelela imali eyiR15,000.

UMHLOBO WENENE FM LAUNCHES EXCITING DRAMA COMPETITION TO COMBAT DRUG ABUSE AND BOOST ISIXHOSA DRAMA INDUSTRY

[Gqeberha, 16 October 2023] - Umhlobo Wenene FM is proud to announce the return of the station’s drama competition "UWFM Drama Competition". This groundbreaking competition seeks to identify and celebrate creative and talented drama producers, scriptwriters, and actors while addressing the critical issue of drug abuse in our society. The competition launches on-air on Friday, 16 October 2023 on 123Pholaz

The drama competition aims to play a pivotal role in developing the isiXhosa Drama industry, develop, nurture, and showcase the country's best young creative talent, create employment opportunities for drama producers, and diversify the station's talent pool while attracting and engaging a broader audience through compelling drama content. Over the next few weeks, Umhlobo Wenene FM will be on the lookout for the following talent:

• 1 Scriptwriter: Submit a 1-page synopsis and 2 scenes.
• 1 Producer: Send a 10-minute radio drama.
• 1 Actor: Share a 60-second monologue clip.

The overarching theme for entries in the UWFM Drama Competition is drug abuse in society under the hashtag #UWFMSafaZiziyobisi. Umhlobo Wenene FM encourages all aspiring drama producers, scriptwriters, and actors to participate in this exciting competition and contribute to raising awareness about the critical issue of drug abuse in an entertaining, informative, and educational manner. Entries must be new and original, with no adaptations of existing material or previously published stories. The script and drama packages must be entirely in isiXhosa, reflecting the rich linguistic diversity of South Africa.

Each participant is allowed only one entry. The competition will see top 5 actors, 3 scriptwriters, and 2 producers selected as finalists, and they will have the opportunity to attend a training workshop featuring renowned television and theatre thespian, Dumisani Mbebe, known for his stellar performances in productions such as Generations, Isidingo, Soul City, Interrogation Room, The Estate, Mama Jack and many other shows and movies. Winners stand a chance to receive a share of R60,000 as the cash prize and a contract with the station’s drama department for the duration of the 2024/25 fiscal year. The listener who sends the most votes in the competition will stand a chance to win R15,000.

Entries should be emailed to drama@umhlobowenenefm.co.za. Submissions will be accepted from the 16th to the 27th of October 2023.

Entry Requirements:

Participants must be 20 years and older with an excellent command of isiXhosa language. Their demos must showcase creativity and awareness of socio-economic issues affecting listeners and must show that the entrant has an understanding of the public service mandate of the station. The submitted work must show the entrant’s ability to produce a drama that is captivating and relevant for both digital and radio consumption. Previous radio drama experience will be advantageous.
