E-hailing safety concerns for women

E-hailing services like Uber and Bolt have transformed urban mobility, offering convenience and accessibility to millions. However, safety concerns particularly for women have become a growing issue. Recent incidents, such as South African media personality Anele Mdoda’s alarming encounter with an Uber driver, highlight the urgent need for stricter safety measures. In response to rising concerns, a recent survey conducted by Women For Change found that 73% of users feel unsafe using e-hailing services, with cases of harassment and abuse on the rise. This survey aims to assess public perceptions of e-hailing safety, identify key concerns, and explore possible solutions to improve passenger security.
