SABC TV celebrates Womens Month with women oriented content

As the country commemorates the annual women’s month, the SABC TV network brings to its viewer’s content that pays tribute to women in the entertainment industry this August.

SABC1 also acquired the rights to broadcast the movies Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B on Sunday 2nd August 2020 at 19:30, Whitney on Sunday 23rd August 2020 at 19:30 and Oscar Pistorius: The Blade Runner Killer on Saturday 8th August 2020 at 20:00.

We complete the line-up with musical specials featuring Mary J Blige on Saturday 15 August 2020 at 18:00, Amanda Black on Saturday 22nd August at 18:00 and Rihanna on Saturday 29th August 2020 at 18:00

SABC2 Women’s Month Highlights

SABC2’s Afro Café celebrates women’s month by featuring women in the upcoming episodes as they perform on the show. Viewers can look forward to performances by Buhlebendalo, Ami Faku, Kelly Khumalo and Azana.
SABC2’s women talk show Motswako returns on Thursday, 13 August 2020 with the first episode featuring dancer and choreographer Bontle Modiselle, Live Amp presenter, Lameez and Moonchild discussing the topic 'Music a cultural phenomenon'.

Our Home Theatre Movie slots also features powerful women in film.  Juliette Binoche and Flora Cross act alongside Richard Gere in Bee Season on Saturday 1st August 2020 at 16:00.  In Bee Season a wife and mother begins a downward emotional spiral, as her husband avoids their collapsing marriage by immersing himself in his 11 year-old daughter's quest to become a spelling bee champion.
Some of the stars appearing in Home Theatre this month are Mary Kate Schellhardt in Mr. Blue Sky on Saturday 8th August 2020, Kari Hawker-Diaz and Savanna Kylie Lewis in Elizabeth’s Gift Saturday 15th August 2020, Taylor Spreitler, Girl on the Edge on Saturday 22nd August 2020 and Jenna Ortega featured in Saving Flora on Saturday 29th August 2020.

The SABC2’s Made in Africa documentary slot on Sundays will feature women inventors as part of commemorating women’s month. The series will focus on the creators and inventors from the African continent. We reach deep into our rich and colourful heritage to find these great thinkers and shine the light of recognition on them. The series will feature Civil Engineer and Technician Nokuthula Kubheka, Environmental Engineer Jeanette Pretorius, Lecturer Philiswa Momnogogo, Medical Doctor Dr. Lungi Nyathi and Pharmacist Stephanie De Rapper.  

SABC3 Women’s month Highlights:-

Afternoon Express celebrates Women’s Month with some wonderful topics such as “A Mother's & Father's Love for their Child. Stress Dealing with Childbirth During A Global Pandemic”, “Ingram's Skin Sessions - The Politics of Beauty: A discussion on Colourism” together with some awesome guests including (Thandi Draai, Pranya Naidoo and Tumi Morake.
