WHAT TO LOOKOUT FOR ON SABC 1 IN THE MONTH OF APRIL 2020.

Mzansi gospel music lovers should look forward to a new season of their favourite gospel music show, Gospel Unplugged, starting on the channel this Sunday 05 April in the 17h30 timeslot.

Gospel singer Mmatema Moremi is the lively face of the show with DJ 13 SA leading the gospel vibes from behind the decks. Viewers are in for a special thrill with season 2 of the contemporary gospel show turning each episode into musical extravaganza with elements such as: Praise Party; vibrant and energetic performances by guest artists; video chart countdown; karaoke quizz; word & rhythm, among others.

Gospel Unplugged is a contemporary gospel music show that exclusively caters for contemporary music, with an emphasis on various genres of urban gospel music. Ranging from hip hop, to House or R&B gospel and Raggae gospel music, if it’s urban in mzansi or contemporary on the continent and glo-cally, then Gospel Unplugged has it!

Tune in to SABC 1 every Sunday at 17h30 for Gospel Unplugged and enjoy the best contemporary gospel music glo-cally!

 

Also on the lookout starting Thurs 23 @ 18h00 is a brand-new season 3 of One Mic, SABC 1’s most popular Rap and Hip Hop reality talent search show featuring exciting instalments of pure rap battles. The competition still runs for 26 weeks with 64 contestants and one ultimate winner. The competition level is very high in the new season and there are fighters in the game, but ultimately there has to be one winner of One Mic. Season 3 comes with a new host Anele Zondo aka Ney the Bae. Our judges are still Big Zulu, Aewon Wolf and Jr, but every now and then we see some surprise guest judges.

 

For Easter celebration the channel has scheduled a gospel music programme titles Gospel Inspiration Music Concert starting Saturday 04 April @ 18h00 with repeat show on Mondays @ 14h00. Mzansi Fo Sho viewers will enjoy soul-warming gospel renditions by gospel greats such as Ntokozo Mbambo, Khaya Mthethwa, Nqubeko Mbatha and Ayanda Ntanzi.

  • Love and Maskandi (Comedy Drama) – 01/04

A love story between a westernized news journalist and a Maskandi musician. Zakhele has to choose between killing Cindy for traditional medicine to resurrect his dying music career or save the love of his life. CAST: Lwandle Ngwenya, Wanda Zuma, Samkelo Khayile, Mthobisi Mnikathi.

  • Two Sides of a Coin (Drama) 08/04

JAMES finds his girlfriend TULI at a restaurant with Thabiso by chance. Their relationship started to change as Tuli pressured him to get a job. James finds out from a friend that Tuli is spending time with another man who has money. CAST: Samkelisiwe Makhoba, Donovan Prince, Sithembiso Kelvin Mthembu.

  • Heels on Wheels (Drama) 15/04

Warona Nare, a young beautiful wheelchair model, who was paralysed with Polio at the age of 3. One beautiful evening while watching TV she is intrigued to see runaway models in one of South African fashion Shows and her interest in modelling escalated as she becomes more and more fascinated by it, but her situation still limits her ambition.   • Isikhalo (Drama) 22/04

 

A young disable “deaf” girl becomes a victim of discrimination in her own home. Nkanyezi’s life changes drastically when her father dies in a neighbourhood shoot out trying to shield her, and ever since that day she has been her mother’s grieving escape. CAST: Winnie

  • Isidima (Drama) 29/04

South African Police Service arrive to a blood soaked woman comforting her daughter, paramedics nearby treat her victims. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The desperately poor woman who lives in a tiny two room shack with her daughter Aphiwe, her grand-daughter and two others was arrested for the murder. CAST: Andrea Dondolo, Asanda Hanabe, Bonothile Mthembu, Menzi Ntombela

 

  • PERFECTION – Wed 01 @ 22h00 (the series will run for the month of April)

The 20 Years Of Loxion Kulca Documentary is about the journey of a streetwear brand founded in 1999, by Wandi Nzimande & Sechaba Mogale. In this 4 part docu-reality series, we explore the birth of the brand, its growth and challenges, its influence and impact in popular culture in South Africa. We feature some of SA influential Artists, Creatives and Media specialists that have worked with Loxion Kulca.
