About Presenter:

Paul Mvulane Mnisi is a multimedia power-house and award winning broadcaster. A one stop shop with skill and expertise that straddle radio, music production, master of ceremonies,television and print media spanning some 14 years – throw in some club/festival DJing and you get the full picture of the scale of this man’s talent.  

 

Experience and Progression:

  • It all kicked off in 1995 when the Katlehong born personality presented the youth show Ecovision as a 17-year-old.
  • The following year he flirted with radio and joined the community station Voice of Soweto as a field reporter, news reader and a presenter.
  • The year 1997 marked the beginning of a long stay at YFM, the ground-breaking Joburg youth radio station as one of the founding members of on-air staff.
  • Mnisi’s TV career has also been stellar. Aside from being on Ecovision, he presented on Channel O, the music channel on DStv broadcast throughout the African continent in 1998 and in 1999 he joined Jam Alley, the long-running youth music and entertainment show on SABC1 as a presenter where he worked with talent such as Vinoliah Mashego until 2001 when he took a sabbatical from TV.
  • He found his way back to TV in 2007 as the presenter of the music game show Lilizela Mlilizeli on SABC2.
  • Mnisi’s gifts are boundless. He has also featured on productions such as Soul City, Amandla – A Revolution in Four Part Harmony and The Lion’s Trial – a documentary of the song Mbube composed by Solomon Linda.
  • In 2009 he appeared with a much waited return to the small screen with a game show called The Kids Are Alright (Endemol International). The show has since nominated for best game show at the South African film television awards (SAFTAS) 2010.
  • In the same year he hosted a transport show which was commissioned by the department of transport. Kwela Express, the name of the show, looking at South Africa’s upgrading of its road infrastructure and intergrated public transportation network. The show also evaluated the countries readiness for the FIFA World cup in June 2010.
  • He was at Gauteng’s Powerfm 98.7 hosting the weekend breakfast show Powerburo (6-9am).

 

Accomplishments:

  • On top of all of this he was a recipient of the Arts and Culture Trust Award for best supporting media in arts and culture in 2003.
  • In the year 2002 Mnisi ushered another side of his that few knew of as the editor of Ymag. This was one of the most influential youth magazines during its time, in fact the publication won the best youth magazine award at the Sappi Pica awards for two years in a row as well as overall winner for best consumer magazine with him at the helm.
  • He sat on the LoveLife advisory board for five years where his knowledge and experience as a youth leader was put to good use.
