The Soweto Cheshire Home has been registered as a Non- profit Organisation (NPO) with the Director of Non- profit Organisation in Pretoria since 2001. Cheshire Homes South Africa is affiliated to Leonrd Cheshire International in London, the first Home was founded in England by Group Captain Cheshire V.C in 1948 there are now over 360 Homes globally.
We provide our Residents, all of whom live here permanently, with comfortable accommodation, 24 hour care, nutritious meals, laundry and cleaning, access to therapists and social worker, psychosocial support, specialized transport as required, social activities, in house arts and crafts and other forms of development and entertainment.
Cheshire Homes greatly depends on donations from the public to run the organization to provide food, health care and development skills to ensure those in their care have the best quality of life. Although the organisation receives a percentage from government as a social grant and residence do pay towards their care, it is not enough to cover costs incurred by the organisation.
