Nompumelelo Princess, known to her listeners as “Mpumi Mbethe” is a vibrant, young, caring and fun loving 26 year old woman. Born and bred in Witbank, a township In Mpumalanga. She joined Mpumalanga’s leading radio station, Ligwalagwala FM in April 2014 where she co-hosted the weekly Asambe Drive Show (ADS) from 3pm – 6pm. After spending a year with the ADS team, she was moved to the breakfast show where she currently co-hosts the Kusile Mzansi Show from 06h30 – 10am with a team that includes Madumane, Shukuma and Mancane. She is amongst the presenters who are willing to share knowledge, friendliness and willingness to follow current trends.

She matriculated from Greendale School in 2005, while at school she participated in multiple activities and led the debate society at the school. In 2006 she enrolled a BA Degree in Journalism at the University Of Johannesburg, majoring in Communications and Sociology. During her time in varsity, she joined the UJ drama company and spent most of her spare time at the art centre

After graduating for her BA degree in 2009, she worked as a production assistant at Broad Daylight Films, a TV production company which produced a series of Current affairs/political debate shows for a leading News channel. She then moved to work for a commercial broadcaster in their Electronic programming division. She was a presenter on Ses’khona and on Zoned and IDENTITY, all on SABC 1.  She first branched into radio in 2013 doing a show at Emalahleni FM.

Mpumi Mbethe is one of the 3 Ambassadors of the Banking Association of South Africa’s flagship programme: Star Saver, alongside Proverb and Sibusiso Vilane. Star saver is a programme focused on financial literacy aimed at children.

Mpumi is a typical girl that goes crazy when her favourite song plays on the radio, she turns up the volume, sing-along and dance like no one is watching. She is passionate about media, travel & tourism. She sees herself as the next media mogul, a motivational speaker and following the meaning of her name “Success”. She is not afraid to move slowly in the journey to her name, but her biggest fear is standing still. She has a few mottos in life because she loves quotes, which she retweet all the time, or update on her facebook status.
