Ladles Of Love's Realise A Dream Programme

Date: May 18, 2022

Food entrepreneurs and agripreneurs to get the kickstart of a lifetime at V&A Waterfront this Friday

Good Hope FM’s The Morning Show with Leigh-Anne Williams, Delucia Daniels and Sandra Rosenberg will be broadcasting live from the highly anticipated Ladles of Love Realise a Dream awards event at Makers Landing, V&A Waterfront, this Friday, 20 May from 9 to 12 pm.

The event gives food entrepreneurs and agripreneurs – working in Baking and Confectionery, Food Products or Processing, Food Service or Eatery, and Farming Produce or Husbandry – a chance to win their share of the prize pool worth 1 million rand, including a capital expenditure allocation for their business.

Tons of entries received were narrowed down to 20 finalists, who are being put through their paces by the judging panel this week, before the awards event on Friday, where 4 overall winners will be announced.

Having seen the troublesome challenges of youth unemployment in South Africa made worse by Covid-19, Realise A Dream was established by food security non-profit organisation, Ladles of Love in 2021 to enable food enterprises to grow and provide jobs for people in communities, allowing them to sustain themselves and feed their families with dignity.

Good Hope FM’s Station Manager, says “Realise a Dream is an initiative that the station proudly supports, because it’s an inspiring story of empowering those who have immense passion for their craft, but just need a solid jump-start to build a successful, sustainable business. We’re in the business of moving a massive audience for the greater good, and what better way to wield this power than to motivate them to support these individuals, these businesses in building success stories that could very well last for generations.”

Founder of the NPO Danny Diliberto says “We believe that if our Realise a Dream Enterprise Development Programme can address the challenges of understanding business fundamentals, we will enable entrepreneurs to expand and create jobs for people in their communities. RAD 2022 is now more inclusive to allow a broader age profile and more categories to allow for diverse food enterprise owners and urban farmers.

He continues “We are grateful to our sponsors and partners, Makers Landing, Over the Rainbow, Pick n Pay, Libstar, Nexia SAB&T and 220 Fahrenheit who are investing in training and development for these entrepreneurs who are determined to be the best they can be.”

Ladles of Love sees RAD as a platform to open opportunities for partnerships, donors, funders, or corporate companies to invest in enterprise development and enterprise owners to access training, mentorship, and capital expenditure.  If you would like to support the RAD programme, visit www.ladlesoflove.org.za and get involved today.

Friday’s awards event will start promptly at 11 am.
