This follows the conclusion of a week-long series of public hearings by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which examined Israel’s alleged role in the crisis during the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Speaking at the ICJ, Alsharief criticised actions taken by Israel which she says have directly impacted humanitarian aid efforts in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“We are deeply concerned by respective legislations imposed by the occupying state, Israel, that has effectively terminated the operations and relief works agency in the occupied Palestinian territory, leading to the collapse of the severely needy UN humanitarian response,” said Alsharief. “This outcome is deeply troubling and carries grave implications.”
Alsharief warned that if the situation remains unaddressed, it could lead to even more dire consequences for civilians caught in the conflict.
