The new regulation is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the quality of education and ensure that only capable professionals are allowed into classrooms.
Dr Aaron Chansa, who heads the National Action for Quality Education in Zambia, has backed the move, saying it could raise standards in the education sector.
“It’s a welcome development,” he said. “For a long time, we’ve needed a system that not only checks qualifications but also verifies the readiness of our teachers before they enter the field.”
Authorities are expected to roll out the policy once legal and administrative processes are completed.
