Countries urge Israel to allow aid into Gaza as ICJ hearings continue

Date: May 3, 2025

A number of countries have called on Israel to allow the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip as arguments continue at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Israel maintains it will not permit the entry of goods and supplies into the Strip until Hamas releases all remaining hostages.

The ICJ, which settles legal disputes submitted by states and provides advisory opinions on legal questions, is hearing submissions related to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Senegal's representative, Dieynaba Toure Bathily, stated: "Senegal supports the United Nations-led initiative to end the war in Gaza."
