Gardee says Mabuza was committed to the liberation of the people of South Africa and that he was passionate about education and empowering others.
Representatives of political parties and members of the community continue to visit Mabuza's homestead to pay their respects.
Sixty-four-year-old Mabuza died last week after a short illness.
Gardee was speaking to members of the media outside Mabuza's home in Barberton, in the Mpumalanga province.
“We learned the struggle songs together with him, when there was still NYUSA and there was still the student congress in the 80s,” said Gardee. “We did everything we could do with him, and in particular, in 1985, the international year of the youth. With him, we were gravelling roads, building parks, together with colleagues who were senior to us. And we learned a lot from them, including how to switch on to Radio Freedom.”
