Makgoba says the inquiry should advise President Cyril Ramaphosa within six weeks on how to deal with the allegations made against Senzo Mchunu.
Makgoba’s recommendation comes days after Kwazulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi accused Mchunu of having contacts with criminals leading to the disbanding of the Political Killings Task Team. The unit had been investigating high-profile murders and arresting alleged syndicate members.
Makgoba says the allegations are serious and threaten to undermine the confidence of people in the police.
