South Africa’s (SA) Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has highlighted the growing global momentum towards incorporating nuclear power as part of the transition to sustainable green energy sources.

Speaking at the second G20 Energy Transitions Working Group meeting in Cape Town, Ramokgopa underscored the importance of nuclear energy in bolstering energy security while ensuring reliable, affordable, and inclusive access to electricity.

“There is a global move to include nuclear power in efforts to transition into sustainable green energy sources,” he noted, adding that SA and the African continent are likely to follow suit by increasing their reliance on nuclear energy in their energy mix.
