Date: Jul 16, 2025

South African (SA) Deputy President Paul Mashatile has addressed the opening ceremony of the China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing.

Mashatile is on a working visit to China. The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the two nations.

The expo was organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade dedicated to global supply chains.

Mashatile says that SA is committed to strengthening economic ties with China.

This is a result of the two nations having a mutual desire to diversify and expand trade to create a solid supply chain.

In his opening remarks, Mashatile says that Pretoria, Gauteng Province, will have the chance to diversify exports, whereas Beijing will have the opportunity to further its economic partnerships with the African continent.

He further reiterated the importance of strengthening the two countries' relationship to ensure that the outcomes of SA's G20 Presidency reflect the shared aspirations of the Global South.
