Authorities executed search and seizure warrants under the Customs and Excise Act at several shops suspected of dealing in counterfeit merchandise. The coordinated operation led to the seizure of over 13 000 items, including fake luxury brand clothing, shoes, handbags, and jewellery.
Police Spokesperson Amanda Van Wyk said the operation was part of efforts to curb illicit trade and enforce compliance with immigration and customs laws.
“Over two days leading to the confiscation of more than 13 000 counterfeit items of high-end luxury brands that include clothing, shoes, bags, and jewellery. Six foreign nationals were arrested for contravening the Immigration Act. One of the suspects is also facing an additional charge for resisting arrest,” Van Wyk confirmed.
