Kyle Cassim joined 5FM in October 2016.

He was a student at the University of Pretoria, after which he pursued music production and, in due course, became a household name in the dance music scene in South Africa.

If you had to sum up yourself in 10 seconds, what would you say?

I am absolutely crazy. If you spend more than 10 seconds with me, you’ll be smiling and ready to party! I’m always laughing, pranking and trying to make those around me have a good time.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Benoni.

In which towns have you lived and where are you living currently?

I have lived in Benoni, Pretoria, Cape Town and now live in Bedfordview.

Which languages can you speak?

English and Afrikaans.

What are your favourite towns or cities visited in SA and abroad?

Amsterdam, Cape Town, New York, London, Paris, Ibiza.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies include relaxing (I have a very fast-paced lifestyle), listening to old-school music, having long lunches with my friends, reading, playing with my dogs, cooking, pranking people, travelling with my girlfriend, watching movies and spending time with my family.

What is the craziest thing you’ve done?

Driven from a club in Pretoria to Durban at 4 a.m., just wo watch a rugby game.

Which pets do you have, if any?

Two yorkies – Tommy & Tia.

Will Smith, Russel Brand, Fisher, Freddy Mercury and Elvis Presley.

No phone, stuck on a beach with my girlfriend and some cocktails.

To play the piano and guitar.

I think I could be a pretty good comedian and motivational speaker.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Teleport!

Rugby.

Which causes are you really passionate about?

Anything to do with children.

What are the top things on your bucket list?

Buy a Porsche, travel the whole world, perform as a headliner in Vegas and Ibiza, and have a family.

Racist people. People who don’t drink tequila, haha!

Which things make the world (and people) awesome?

Tequila! Music makes the world awesome. I love kind-hearted and selfless people. People who don’t judge. People who inspire.

What’s your favourite thing about your 5FM gig?

It allows me to let anyone, no matter where they are, get the opportunity to fall in love with house music. It gives people the chance to hear music they’ve never heard and changes their whole mood, and it allows me to make a positive impact on people I’ve never met.
