Quick intro

Karabo started with 5FM in April 2024.

She studied a BA in film and television studies and then went further to also study BA Honours in Communication Theory. She started her radio journey in 2022 at UJFM as a news reader, field reporter and presenter. During the 3 years of her radio career, she’s been nominated twice for Best News Reader in the Campus category. She finally joined commercial radio in 2024 after just 2 years in the industry.

If you had to sum up yourself in 10 seconds, what would you say?

Young, ambitious and a go getter. A powerhouse and an absolute beauty with brains.

Where were you born and raised?

Orlando West, Soweto. Raised in the south of Joburg

In which towns have you lived and where are you living currently?

I’ve only lived in Johannesburg and currently live in the south of Joburg. I’m a true Joburg girlie

Which languages can you speak?

IsiZulu , isiXhosa , Setswana , Sesotho , English

Favourite towns or cities visited in SA and abroad:

Definitely the best city in the world: Cape Town. You literally feel like you’re in another country.

What are your hobbies?

Reading, going to the gym, writing, watching reality tv shows, padel

What is the craziest thing you’ve done?

I once disappeared on the weekend of my matric farewell. Had so much fun but I was in so much trouble with my parents!

Which pets do you have, if any?

I once had dogs. I still want more. Probably a Pomeranian now.

Giving back to underprivileged individuals, sharing knowledge and skills to those who need it. Women empowerment.

Bungee jumping, paragliding , shark diving.
